Twilight Hike to the Hermit’s Cave

Meeting at Hermitage Mansion (700 Hermit Lane)
Join the Wild Women of the Wissahickon for a twilight adventure to the Hermit’s Cave, where we’ll explore the lore and legends surrounding the mysterious “Woman in the Wilderness”—and America’s first doomsday cult. As Halloween approaches and the veil between worlds grows thin, spirits are said to cross over and roam the land. Will the mystic Johannes Kelpius return to resume his vigil, awaiting the End of Days? For 345 years, William Penn’s “Holy Experiment” has endured—even as the wizards, mystics, and visionaries of the Wissahickon have come and gone.
Costumes are encouraged to confuse nefarious spirits roaming abroad in the land. We’ll gather on the Hermitage porch and walk over uneven paths in the gloaming. Bring a flashlight and wear shoes suitable for the steep, heavily rooted and rocky path.
