Major Trails
Forbidden Drive
Forbidden Drive | 5.35 Miles | Average width 25 feet; Max obstacle height 3 inches | Average Grade: 3% A wide, flat, multi-use gravel path that parallels the Wissahickon Creek for the entire length of the park, Forbidden Drive is part of the Circuit Trails network and was the 2018 PA Trail of the Year!
Over one million people use this popular trail annually, so make sure to make room for everyone. Please respect other park users and follow trail courtesy recommendations: all users must yield to equestrians, and bikers should yield to hikers, walkers, and joggers.
Orange Trail
Orange Trail | 5.64 Miles | Average width 3 feet; Max obstacle height 24 inches | Average Grade: 11% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail that runs along the east side of the park. Terrain is varied, and sections of the trail are rugged and may be difficult for inexperienced trail users. Restricted to Hikers Only from Hortter Street to the Thomas Mill Road Covered Bridge.
White Trail
White Trail | 4.39 Miles | Average width 3 feet; Max obstacle height 24 inches | Average Grade: 10% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail that runs along the east side of the park. Terrain is varied, with occasional steep, technical climbs. Sections of the trail are rugged and may be difficult for inexperienced trail users.
Yellow Trail
Yellow Trail | 7.89 Miles | Average width 3 feet; Max obstacle height 24 inches | Average Grade: 9% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail that runs on the west side of the park. Terrain is varied, with occasional steep, technical climbs.
Lavender Trail
Lavender Trail | 1.5 Miles | Average Width 3 feet, Max obstacle height 24 inches | Average Grade: 11% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail loops on the west side of the park. Terrain is varied, with occasional steep, technical climbs. Restricted to Hikers only.
Andorra Meadow Loop
Andorra Meadow Loop | 1.7 Miles | Average Width 3 feet, Max obstacle height 24 inches | Average Grade: 4% Single track, natural surface (dirt and rock) trail loops on the east side of the park. Terrain is mostly flat, with occasional switchback climbs. Restricted to Hikers and Equestrians only.
Lincoln Drive Trail
Lincoln Drive Trail | 1.6 Miles | Average Width 12 feet, Max obstacle height 3 inches | Average Grade: 3% This series of asphalt trail and elevated boardwalks follows Lincoln Drive and connects the Schuylkill River Trail to Forbidden Drive. The Wissahickon Transportation Center is located directly across the street from the Ridge Avenue trailhead and has connections to SEPTA bus routes from many areas of the city.
Beyond the major trails, there are a variety of other small uncategorized access trails throughout the park which vary in access, grade, width, and surface.

Some helpful tips for getting to the park by car and public transportation.
By Car
The above map shows trailheads and parking locations. Please note that parking along Livezey Lane and Kitchen’s Lane is not allowed as they are the only access routes for emergency vehicles to these areas.
At busy times of day, some parking lots will be full! Alternatives to the most popular locations are listed on their map tags.
By Bus
The west side of the park is served by the SEPTA 27 bus, which runs along Henry Avenue through Roxborough. The north and east side is served by the 97 bus in Chestnut Hill and the 23 bus along Germantown Avenue through Mt. Airy and Germantown. To the south, the 65 bus crosses the park at Walnut Lane. The Wissahickon Transportation Center (4900 Ridge Avenue, multiple bus lines) also offers access to the park at the Ridge Avenue entrance.
Please note that bus stations are often some distance from the park’s trailheads and you should factor this into your hiking plans!
By Regional Rail
The west side of the park is accessible from most of the stations on the SEPTA Chestnut Hill West Line. To the south, the Ridge Avenue entrance is also accessible from Wissahickon Station on the Manayunk / Norristown line.
By Rideshare
Within the park, the following sites are most accessible for rideshare pickups and dropoffs. Keep in mind that cell service in the park is often spotty away from these locations, and please exercise caution on park roads.
