Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) and Wissahickon Trails (formerly Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association) are once again joining forces to clean up litter out of our watershed on Saturday, September 12 – for the 50th anniversary of Wissahickon Trails’ Annual Wissahickon Creek Clean Up!
This is the perfect outdoor event to show your support and love for a clean Wissahickon watershed, while keeping safely physically distant from others. Please note that this is a self-led clean-up. FOW staff will not be leading volunteers at any of these locations and volunteers will need to provide their own clean-up supplies.
We will be handing out free trash bags on Friday, September 11 from 3:00-6:00 pm across from the Cedars House Cafe (Forbidden Drive near Northwestern Avenue).
Once signing up for a location, you can clean up in that area anytime between 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Cleanup sites will be limited to 10 volunteers per site, and you must pre-register for a site and sign the volunteer agreement & release before you are allowed to join a clean-up. All volunteers are required to wear masks and keep at least the recommended 6-foot distance from anyone not in your household group.
After the clean-up, we ask that you complete this short field report so that we can properly log volunteer hours and trash totals.
