The Importance of Membership

We’re sure you know this, but the Wissahickon Valley Park is a special place. With over fifty miles of trails surrounded by 1,800-acres of forested gorge, it’s one of the few locations in Philadelphia where you can feel you’re in the great outdoors – an amazing experience that over 2 million visitors seek annually in this unique urban green space.
Conserving this community resource is a full time job. With spring here, Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) staff and volunteers are out working to clean the park, restore habitat with native plantings, and improve trails. This year, we’re bringing on double our usual number of seasonal field crew members to assist with volunteer cleanups and improvement projects. But with more visitors than ever before, we need your help to sustain our stewardship efforts to address erosion and stormwater runoff, pollution, and habitat degradation in the Wissahickon.
Can you help take care of the outdoors outside your door?
Support from friends of the park (like you!) allows FOW to continue stewarding through these challenges and ensure Wissahickon Valley Park is beautiful, sustainable, and accessible to all. By joining as a member today – for as little as $20 per year – you help conserve this community resource and provide a wonderful Wissahickon experience for everyone.
Thank you for your support,
FOW Staff
