Thank you for your interest in volunteering to keep Wissahickon Valley Park clean and beautiful! Below is all of the information you’ll need to prepare for a fun and successful stewardship experience:
What to Wear
- Sturdy boots/sneakers – no open toed shoes.
- Long pants. Who has time for ticks, poison ivy and stinging nettle?
- Clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
- Sun protection – a hat & sunscreen.
- We have work gloves, but always encourage that you bring your own if possible.
What to Bring
- Your own reusable water bottle to help reduce waste.
Cancellation Details for Inclement Weather
- Typically, we will work in a light rain or snow.
- Service Days will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or snow, thunder and lighting, high winds, etc. If the service day is cancelled, it will be posted by 8 am the day of the service day at the latest.
Minors Volunteering
Teenagers between the ages of 14-18 may volunteer at our service days with the signature of their parent or guardian on our sign-in/waiver form. Kids under the age of 14 may volunteer, but must be accompanied by an adult and have a signed waiver.
Groups
If you are a part of a group of five or more, please reach out to Volunteer Program Coordinator, Amelia Marren at marren@fow.org, so we can best accommodate your group. Smaller groups, please have each individual register online for the desired service day.
Weavers Way Member Hours
Members of Weavers Way Co-Op can earn workshare credit by volunteering with FOW! Members can report their volunteer hours to the Co-op by submitting this form or emailing member@weaversway.coop.
