Friends of the Wissahickon Now Issuing Philadelphia Natural Surface Trail Permits

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) Requires
Valid Permits to Ride Wissahickon Trails
All equestrians and bicyclists over the age of 16 are required to display a valid City of Philadelphia Natural Surface Trails Permit to use the upper trails of Wissahickon Valley Park (and the soft trails of Pennypack Park).
These permits are meant to promote riders’ safety and enjoyment, as well as encourage responsible use of the sensitive park environment.
PPR, in an effort to make this process and compliance easier, has asked Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) as an official park partner to issue the permits for these riders. Donations received through this program will be used to support the parks listed above, so please indicate your primary park of use on your application (for instance, if you indicate you ride in Pennypack, donated funds will go to the official park partner for the Pennypack).
Philadelphia Resident Permit Options:
- Printable paper permit & PPR park rules ($0)
- Permit package–includes Wissahickon Valley Park map, durable permit card, and armband with protective pocket ($20 registration donation)
Non-Philadelphia Residents Permit Package:
- Includes Wissahickon Valley Park map, durable permit card, and armband with protective pocket ($35 registration donation)
Trail users are expected to follow all Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s rules and regulations, including displaying or carrying the permit while on the trails (the permit package option comes with a holder to wear on your arm).
