Run in Support of the Wissahickon

News // May 30, 2024

Our park is considered one of the best trail-running destinations on the East Coast, and we’re celebrating its extensive trail network on June 1, National Trails Day, by taking them for a spin at the 15th annual Wissahickon Trail Classic!

Last year, the Wissahickon Wanderers asked us to partner with them for the 10k and we said, “Yes!” Now, we’re just days away from our second rodeo, and we can hardly contain our excitement.  Get in on the fun before the price to register increases tomorrow at midnight! Don’t wait til race day, sign up here.

After a three-year Covid-included hiatus, the iconic trail race was back. We welcomed nearly 500 runners and raised almost $30,000, which went right back into beautifying and protecting our favorite place to recreate. We had a blast, but this year, we want to do it even bigger.

If you want a unique running experience, to push your boundaries on what you thought you were capable of, or you just love the Wissahickon, this race is for you! We’ll be cheering for you all the way to the finish line.

As a city-dweller, you may be used to running on concrete, through busy streets, surrounded by honking horns and city lights. The Wissahickon Trail Classic replaced concrete with naturally surfaced trails, city streets with tranquil meadows and forests, and all those distractions with cooing birds and rushing streams.

The only downside? It might just make you wish you were always running in the Wiss.

What will your race fee go to? Friends of the Wissahickon’s work improving 1 in 3 Philadelphian’s drinking water, balancing the effects of our park visitor ship and climate change with habitat restoration, and putting on exciting programming like the Trail Classic!

The only thing that’s missing? You!

Get your gang and register today. Not up for the race? Join us for our family-friendly nature walk in the same place at the same time!
