Public Meeting Recap: Where Do Our Trails Need the Most Work?

Conservation // May 14, 2026

Last Thursday evening, participants joined Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW), and our consultant, Princeton Hydro, for the first of two public meetings for the Wissahickon Valley Park Streambank Resiliency and Flood Study. Staff from FOW and Princeton Hydro provided a brief overview of the project and invited everyone to take part in an interactive activity to identify issues and restoration opportunities along trails in the Wissahickon.

Attendees marked locations they’ve seen flooding, stream, sediment, and trail issues, in addition to ideas for improvements.

Are you an avid hiker, biker, or equestrian? Do you want to make a positive impact on our trail system? There is still time to contribute your observations to the Study! This survey will be open through June to capture public feedback on the various stormwater and erosion issues we’re looking to remediate along Forbidden Drive and up to 7 access trails. This feedback will complement field observations and analyses performed by Princeton Hydro to identify future restoration projects. Take a look at this guide to trail, streambank, erosion, and flooding issues below to understand what we’re looking for:

The survey can be found at this link. We want to hear from park visitors who know the park best! Stay up to date on the Study by signing up for our eNewsletter and following us on  FacebookInstagram, and Linkedin.
