William A. Hagan III (aka Captain Bill) had a great appreciation of the Wissahickon, a place he visited throughout his life to run, relax and enjoy the immense beauty of the trails. A bench dedicated in Bill’s name is situated along Forbidden Drive overlooking Harper’s Meadow and he loved having a little piece of the Wissahickon to call his own. Bill’s bench is a beloved meeting place for family and friends to relax and enjoy the serenity of Wissahickon Valley Park and their memories of Bill. We are honoring Bill at the Bell’s Mill Road Kiosk, an entrance to one of his favorite sections of the park, and millions of visitors to the Wissahickon will know of his love for this special place.
Had Bill lived to enjoy his retirement, he would have volunteered and donated to the preservation and cleanliness of the Wissahickon. Donations in honor of Bill’s wish ensures the continued preservation of the Wissahickon Valley Park’s unique wildlife, habitat, watershed, and public recreational asset.
Please join us for the dedication of the Bells Mill Kiosk in Bill’s honor on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 11:00 am. Prior to the dedication there will be an organized clean-up from 9-11 am. Please contact Denise Walsh at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to RSVP.
