Volunteer Programs Information Session

December 14, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join FOW Volunteer Manager, Shawn Green, to learn how you can get involved in the stewardship of Wissahickon Valley Park. Whether through individual clean-ups, attending volunteer service days, or becoming a Crew Leader or Trail Ambassador, there are many ways to make a big difference. Come learn what might work best for you.

The Crew Leader program is perfect for anyone interested in getting their hands dirty and working on trails and habitat restoration. Crew Leaders play an integral role in the stewardship of the park by leading volunteers in the field, removing invasive plant species, planting native trees & shrubs, improving the trail system, removing litter, and working closely with FOW staff. Prior knowledge/experience is not required, but always welcome!

The Trail Ambassador program is very much our outreach corps of volunteers and is perfect for those that are outgoing, love the park and want to share knowledge with park visitors. Trail Ambassadors provide park information and visitor assistance at outreach tables & hiking shifts, lead Guided Walks & Talks, and assist at our Volunteer Service Days. Existing knowledge and/or familiarity with Wissahickon Valley Park is preferred but not required.

This information session will cover both programs and other opportunities to get involved with FOW! The deadline to apply to be a Trail Ambassador or Crew Leader is December 31. You can submit your application here.
