Thursday Volunteer Service Day

Meeting at Forbidden Drive and Mt. Airy Ave Bridge (40.04134, -75.21105)
Parking: There is plenty of street parking nearby on W Mt. Airy Avenue and Mt. Airy Terrace, as well as Leverington Avenue in Roxborough. Our meeting location is about a 10-minute walk from parking on either side of the park. The hike down can get rocky in areas, so participants should feel comfortable navigating uneven terrain. See map for details.
Bathrooms: None
Would you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join us as we clear stormwater drains clogged with debris along Forbidden Drive!
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said, this service day may include the following activities:
• Drain-clearing: carrying and using long handled tools
• Litter clean-up
We provide gloves, tools, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people, please reach out to us first. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.
