Rescheduled: Horses and History with Diane Garvey and Kris Soffa
October 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Trail Ambassadors Diane Garvey and Kris Soffa for a tour of the 1747 Monastery Mansion and and Stables! This farmstead is a rare surviving example of the 18th- and 19th-century way of life in Philadelphia, and is all that remains of Kitchens Mill, a thriving water-powered manufacturing center. We will hike through a relatively new sustainable trail and scramble over bedrock outcrops above the rushing creek water. At noon we will arrive back at the monastery where you can bring your own lunch to enjoy at the picnic tables. Hobnob with fellow hikers and maybe a horse or a mini donkey. Kids are welcome, but no pets, please.
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. We ask all event attendees to bring a mask and mask up if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained during the activity. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 systems, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Long pants are recommended for protection against occasional poison ivy and possible ticks. Bring water and a snack if desired. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. For more information contact Noah Kulak at firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
