Hike the Wissahickon Trail Classic Loop

Come Hike the Wissahickon Trail Classic Loop with Trail Ambassadors Susie Gettes, Lisa Kleiman, Debra Brackett, and Afsana Oreen! This fitness hike (6.1 miles) will take us on the exact route of the famous Trail Run held each Spring in the Wissahickon. We will observe the beauty of the fall leaves and feel the crisp air as we hike through multiple trails. On this route we will visit Houston Meadow, climb the Monster and Lavender Trails and cross the Red Covered Bridge. Who knows, this hike may inspire you to join the Trail Run next year!

Distance: 6.1 miles
Audience: Ages 18+
Parking and Transit: There is plenty of parking in the Northwestern Avenue Parking Area near our meeting location, as well as additional free parking on nearby neighborhood streets. The nearest bus stop at Germantown Ave and Northwestern Ave is a 5-minute, flat walk from our meeting location and services the 51 and 97 buses. If you’re coming from the Roxborough side of the park, the nearest stop is at Ridge Ave and Northwestern Ave which services the 27 bus. See map for details.
Restrooms: There will be porta potties at the trailhead.
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks.
