Highlights of the South with Sheryl Neckritz and Lisa Kleiman
June 3 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Meet at the top of the 100 Steps
Come along on this exploration of the highlights of one of the quietest parts of the Wissahickon – the southern end. We’ll hike by some of the biggest tulip poplars in the park, visit the exquisite (and haunted?) Hermitage Mansion, and see the mysterious Hermit’s Cave. We’ll also check out “100 steps” – the impressive 100+ year old granite staircase. Are there actually 100 steps there? Join us and find out! No dogs, please, other than service dogs.
Distance: 3.5 miles
Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. We ask all event attendees to bring a mask and mask up if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained during the activity. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 systems, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Claire Brennan at firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
