While we at FOW like to think of every day as Earth Day, the annual global day of celebrating and protecting our planet actually falls on April 22. We’ll be observing the holiday on this Saturday with a variety of work in a lesser-known corner of Wissahickon Valley Park!
Nestled between Lincoln Drive, Walnut Lane, and Septa railroad tracks is a historic and gorgeous tract of land sporting trails, a pond, and access to the statue of Henry Houston. This service day is just the start of FOW’s larger plans to improve the park and create better access for area neighbors. Work on this Saturday will consist of cleaning litter and debris, cutting back invasive plants, and beautifying this section of the park. Tools, gloves, snacks, and instruction will be provided – no experience necessary!
No experience is needed. We provide gloves, tools and instruction – you just need to show up! Volunteer service Days are excellent, easy ways to help us take care of Wissahickon Valley Park. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and bring a water bottle with you. Detailed information and the specific meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event.
