Turkey Day Hike with Ted Apple and Eric Dahlberg

November 24, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Meet at the Parking Lot at the entrance to the Orange Trail above Rittenhouse Town. (Near Papertrail Bike Cafe.)

An opportunity to explore the lower portion of the Wissahickon Park while building up an appetite for Thanksgiving dinner. We will start at Rittenhouse Town, then cross to the Yellow Trail to get a great view of the creek and Lincoln Drive, go down to the Ridge Avenue path, crossing the new bridges then taking the Orange Trail, with more great views of the creek, to either Kitchens Lane or Mount Airy Avenue (time permitting), before returning to the starting point. Based on our pace we will cover four or more miles in 2.5 to three hours.

There will be many drop-off points for those who must leave early.

Hiking shoes and poles recommended. Dogs on leashes (if calm) permitted. Kids 12+ permitted if accompanied by an adult.

Distance: 2.5-4 miles

Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)

Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.  If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 systems, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.

Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Christina Bassler at bassler@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
