3/31: Trees, Please! with TreePhilly


Philadelphia has over 2.9 million trees, which cover almost 20%  of the city – and maintaining them all is a huge job! Meet Community Forestry Manager Erica Smith Fichman will be joining us to chat about Philadelphia Parks and Rec’s community forestry work, which includes the urban forest strategic plan (Philly Tree Plan), and the TreePhilly yard tree giveaway program in partnership with Fairmount Park Conservancy.

Erica has spent her career connecting people with plants. As the Community Forestry Manager at Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, she is the project lead for the Philadelphia Urban Forest Strategic Plan. Erica also supervises the amazing TreePhilly team who provide Philadelphia residents with the resources they need to plant and care for trees in their own back yard. She is the recipient of the Arbor Day Foundation’s 2018 Trailblazer Award. Erica received a B.S. in biology from Haverford College and an M.S. in environmental horticulture from the University of California, Davis.
