Celebrate Earth Day in a Super (Mega) Way

News // March 06, 2024

How do you say “thank you” to the Park?

We have a grand gesture we think you might like a part of. To celebrate Earth Day and Friends of the Wissahickon’s 100th year of stewardship, we’re getting our hands dirty at our Super Mega Service Day, one of our biggest service days of the year!

Celebrate Earth Day with FOW, educate the children in your life on the importance of keeping our earth clean and green, get back into the groove of stewardship at one of our first Saturday service days this spring, and enjoy a beautiful morning in the park. Volunteer with us on Super Mega and join us for a picnic afterward.

Across five locations in the Wissahickon and a variety of service projects, there are endless opportunities to give back to your favorite place to play and relax on Saturday, 4/20.

  • Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive – join this location for a mix of litter clean-up and park beautification. Thank you, Green Mountain Energy, for sponsoring this location!
  • Valley Green – join this location for cleaning out stormwater infrastructure.
  • Harvey Street – join this location for planting site maintenance, trail work, and invasive plant removal.
  • Blue Bell Park – join this location for park beautification, litter clean-up, and cleaning out storm-water infrastructure.
  • Ridge Avenue Trailhead – join this location for litter clean-up and cleaning up the paved bike path.
