Steve Okula preparing maple syrup

Wissahickon Environmental Center

The Wissahickon Environmental Center is directed by Environmental Educator Trish Fries with the assistance of Watershed Educator Megan Sgarlat. The building is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The surrounding outdoor area with hiking trails and a bird observation section is open from dawn to dusk every day.

Highlights of the program year are:

  • Apple Cidering in October 
  • Christmas Greens Workshops and Sale in December 
  • Maple Sugaring in February 
  • Tree House Tots Program 
  • Children’s Summer Programs

In cooperation with the Friends of the Wissahickon, the Center is developing a volunteer corps. If you are available to assist with grounds and trail maintenance, please call 215-685-9285 and leave a message for Steve Okula.
