Historic arches in the WissahickonPark Activities

Wissahickon Valley Park, with its steep, wooded hillsides and the refreshing coolness of the creek winding through this ancient gorge, is a magnet for all sorts of outdoor enthusiasts.

More than 50 miles of often-rugged trails challenge hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians while the wide, flat Forbidden Drive is a favorite of joggers and runners

The creek, which is fed with trout each spring, is a lure for fisherman  and the entire forest is teeming with birds that delight birdwatchers.

The unsurpassed beauty of the seven-mile long gorge draws photographers and painters seeking to capture this beauty on film or on canvas. And, remarkably, they are able to do so in relative safety in a Park that is situated within the fifth largest city in the country.
